Make Sure You Eat Your Recommended Daily Amount of Fruits and Vegetables



How many servings of fruits and vegetables should an adult eat each day? Many sources rattle off a generic number to this response, regardless of your age, sex or activity level.

But did you know that age and activity level play a vital role in determining what your daily recommended amount should be? Most people are surprised to hear this, because it’s rarely discussed.
Read below to see if you are getting the proper amount of fruits and veggies.
Less than 30 minutes of exercise a day:
  • Female age 19 to 30: 2 cups fruit and 2.5 cups vegetables
  • Female age 31 to 50: 1.5 cups fruit and 2.5 cups vegetables
  • Male age 19 to 50: 2 cups of fruit and 3 cups of vegetables
  • Female age 51+: 1.5 cups fruit and 2 cups vegetables
30 to 60 minutes exercise a day:
  • Female age 19 to 50: 2 cups fruit and 2.5 cups vegetables
  • Male age 19 to 30: 2 cups fruit and 3.5 cups vegetables
  • Female age 51+: 1.5 cups fruit and 2 cups vegetables
  • Male age 31+: 2 cups fruit and 3 cups vegetables
Sticking to these numbers will ensure that you are taking in the proper amount of daily nutrition, keeping you healthy and strong.
